Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyse the problems caused by the interpretation of legislative texts drafted in more than one language, especially in cases of divergence between one or more equally authentic linguistic versions. The European Union is particularly interesting in this respect, due to the highly prolific nature of EU Law, to the fact that it is directly applicable, and to the high number of its official languages. A special attention is paid to the interpretive practice of the Court of Justice of the European Communities.
