Abstract
The paper discusses censorship in translating newspaper articles on military conflicts in a Ukrainian newspaper published in three languages: Ukrainian, Russian and English. The article links translation strategies to cultural and ideological contexts and shows how in today’s world of globalization, censorial mechanisms can be exercised across borders. An attempt is made to identify dominant discursive norms which have influenced specific translation practices. The author shows how the application of these norms affects the transferring of sensitive information from the East to the West and from the West to the East.
