Abstract
The aim of this paper is to outline a general framework for the description of the translation process and its ensuing products: the playtexts in the target language. Both source language and target language texts are considered, for they are the only tangible material that translators and theater groups alike use as the basis for their respective work. The overall object of the study is translated drama in Spain, and more specifically the thirty years of translations that span from the 1950s to the 1980s.
