Pisarz, Gabriele. 1994. American socialist writers in postwar Germany: a study of norms. In Robyns, Clem, ed. Translation and the (re)production of culture (CETRA Publications 2). Leuven: The CERA Chair for Translation, Communication and Cultures. pp. 259–271.

This paper concentrates on the canonization of imported literature in a system where a sudden change of norms takes place. This study is restricted to a few American authors and to the two decades following the end of World War II. The group of writers chosen for the investigation has one thing in common: they are writers whose books were political by calling for social change, and who took a stand on the ideological controversy between capitalism and upcoming socialism from the thirties to the sixties.
