Abstract

Interpretation and translation can be studied under a wide variety of angles: the economics of I/T, market development of I/T, the psychology of translators and interpreters, their sociology, their health, etc. This paper deals with research on and around I/T processes, which raises more I/T specific methodological issues. The subject has been discussed by Toury in an article with a rather theoretical view of the issues and focusing on translation. The present paper tackles more practical issues in research methodology and leans essentially towards interpreting, though most comments also apply to translation.
