Abstract
Over the years, it has become apparent that knowing several languages is but one prerequisite for succeeding as an interpreter and that certain other qualities must be present before training even begins. This article reviews the different types of aptitude tests employed, systematic research carried out on aptitude testing and attempts to identify further areas of research on the subject.
