Abstract
This paper embarks upon message redundancy and message anticipation in simultaneous interpreting. After an elaboration on the Russian school of thought, the author presents his own model of SI psycholinguistic machinery, which is called the probability model. It regards the probability prediction of the verbal and semantic structure of the oral message in progress as the most essential psycholinguistic factor explaining the phenomenon of simultaneity in simultaneous interpreting.
