Abstract
This paper contains a description of some experimental work that has been carried out and that is aimed at investigating simultaneous interpreting with interdisciplinary approaches. This work concerns a) neuropsychological aspects, such as memory and attention during a complex cognitive task such as simultaneous interpretation; b) non-linguistic aspects of verbal communication, such as speaking speed and its effect on the performance of a simultaneous interpreter; as well as c) emotional, suprasegmental aspects of speech in polyglot subjects.
