The article gives an outline of a research project which aims at investigating the semantic changes - particularly explicitation - which occur in translations from Russian into Swedish. The first stage of the study includes an analysis of (1) published translations and (2) interpreting performance (by professionals and students). The second stage will include a TAP experiment with professional and student translators translating from Russian into Swedish. A computer logging system will also be used.
