Abstract

This book can be seen as a sequel to the author’s previously published volume Poétique du traduire. Translating is a language act, and all language acts imply an ethics of language. This means that poetics of translation should not be seen as a regional and autonomous reflection on what translation is and on what we call literature. On the contrary, all poetics of translation show that each translation act exposes its own language theory, and that language implies a continuation and an interaction with art, ethics, and politics. Translation is the experimental laboratory, the main field for a critique on translation where ideas on the ethics and politics of translation are formed.
