Abstract
One of the areas of relatively new technologies that arouse great emotions in some translators is that of machine translation. As noted by the author of this paper, there are those who see machine translation as a threat to the profession and others who feel it can be a useful tool. Yet, machine translation systems, albeit somewhat simple ones, are within the reach of the average translator and could actually help increase productivity over time.
