This paper aims to adopt a critical approach towards LEA courses (filières de Langues Etrangères Appliquées). The paper looks into the didactics of translation at LEA, teacher training, the dominant position of translation in English classes, specialized translation and other issues. The author also advocates teaching methods which allocate more importance to translation as a way of communication.
