Abstract
Comparing his own research programme to other prevailing paradigms in translation studies, Toury ascribes the existing gaps between different paradigms to the “fallacious rejection of somebody else’s concepts on the grounds that they are untenable within one’s own frame of reference, which was designed for a completely different purpose”. In this article Toury wants to" put some of the basic assumptions of his approach to the test again, thus opening the door to a fresh discussion".
