The study of inarticulate and onomatopoeic forms has not traditionally received much attention, although certainly this field has sparked interest and curiosity among those with a particular sensitivity for problems of language. The main objective of this paper is to analyze how the translator treats and uses Spanish when translating onomatopoeia in comic books. On the basis of a contrastive analysis of Spanish and English onomatopoeia, the author discusses the strategies used by translators, playing particular attention to the influence of English on translated texts.
