Abstract

Empirical science of language makes the distinction between object language and meta language. The description of the relationship between object and meta often involves levels, of which the more abstract meta level is higher than the object level. A meta-level can become object level for a higher meta-level. With this potential multiplication of levels, translation studies is faced with an important task This paper offers some elements of reflection.
