Building upon the experience gained from translating for the Translation Service of the European Commission specialised texts into Greek addressing the needs of different target groups, this paper attempts to examine the particular features – as regards terminology – of the texts produced in the framework of the activities of the EU institutions, develops the translators’ approach to the problem of newly founded terms in source language and their transfer, in particular by neologisms, to the linguistic environment of the target language.
