Abstract
This paper aims to sketch the potential of a future dialogue as well as indicate the constraints that have until now complicated communication among researchers in various disciplines. After a brief introduction, the paper looks into process models of simultaneous interpreting. The author distinguishes full-process models and partial-process models. The next main topic is telecommunication and interpreting research. Under this heading, telecommunication-related research issues are investigated. Finally, the author provides a tentative conclusion.
