Abstract
In this article the author deals with the phenomenon where various translators cooperate to produce one translated text. This collaboration can be human-to-human or human-to-machine. Although there has not been much research conducted on collaborative translation, the concept is not new. The author gives a brief historical overview and proposes several motivators for the translators. This concept is strongly linked with technology and crowdsourcing; both explained in the article. It concludes with a description of the impact and possible impact of, the mostly amateur, collaborative translation on professional translation.
