Abstract

In this article, the author discusses the assessment and evaluation of translations. She makes a clear distinction between the two terms; the former referring to a process by which information is collected relative to some know objective or goal, while the latter has a subjective component. The evaluation of a translation is strongly linked to its quality, which is linked to a theory of translation. This controversial issue and the various translation approaches are put forward in the article.
