Abstract

In this article the author introduces medical translation and interpreting as one of the oldest types of translation. Traditionally, medical translation has been viewed mainly in terms of highly specialized texts and the terminological problems posed by them. It refers to a specific type of scientific and technical translation that focuses on medicine and other fields closely related to health and disease such as nursery, public health, pharmacology, psychiatry, psychology, molecular biology, genetics and veterinary science. The author discusses various topics such as terminology, genres and research all within the framework of medical translation and interpretation.
