Performative aspects of translation in translation studies have been mainly discussed in the context of the stage and media translation. This paper takes these ideas as a starting point for the illumination of the concept of performance in terms of both the social activity of those involved in translation processes, actors and for the conceptualization of an expanded concept of translation, which is able to meet the performance character of the translation process and its many manifestations.
