This article discusses the so-called metalinguistical poetry by showing Portuguese translations of poems by two Rhaeto-Romance poets: Bardill (in the Vallader dialect) and Ruth (in the Surselvan dialect), who depict the problem of the death of their mother tongue more critically, without any idealization. Other authors are mentioned: Caratsch, Cadieli and Lansel, who belong to a group of neo-romantic poets.
