Abstract
The theory of translation, which begins by posing the question why a certain text is the translation of another text, situates itself in the conceptual field of meaning. But in the philosophical paradigm, another epistemological principle needs to be added, i.e. ‘the principle of the second object’. That principle establishes a Cartesian gap between objects of natural sciences and objects of social sciences.
