Abstract
This article deals with interpreting from a historical perspective. The author discusses interpreting starting with ancient Egypt, where interpreters worked at the pharaoh's court. Then she discusses the role of interpreters in ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. Afterwards, the interpreter during the Middle Ages is looked into. The author concludes the article by looking at the Modern World and the 20th century.
