Abstract
LSF has lexical and rhetorical features similar to unwritten languages spoken in small communities around the world. Additional features were adopted from the hearing world and the French language. Most LSF signs are of iconic origin; visual motivation is, however, no more conscious in sign language speakers than in vocal language speakers. LSF is capable of satisfying all intellectual operations required by adult thinking.
