Abstract

This book aims to give an historical overview of translation activity in France in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Broadly speaking, the book is divided into three main parts. The first part looks into the Renaissance and sheds some light on humanist translators. The second part is focused on the Reformation and on bible translation. The third part investigates the concept of the ‘belles infidèles’.
