Abstract
Thiel pleads for the use of the text linguistic category 'isotopy' in translation studies. She defines 'isotopy' as an aspect of the semantic dimension of a text, which is correlated with its pragmatic and syntactic dimensions. The paper first discusses the relevance of the concept and then illustrates its relation with the analysis of the source text and the translation of this text by means of an example.
