Neubert problematizes the fact that most machine translation systems do not use the 'linguistic intelligence' that is available in the form of printed dictionaries, lexica, etc. He proposes an integrated system that could support the edition of multilingual documents and put the different linguistic components to use as early and efficiently as possible. The paper discusses the most important functions of this integrated system.
