Abstract
This paper starts with the observation that the personal computer has brought enormous amounts of data within the reach of many people. The author argues that this increased availibility of readily accessible information goes hand in hand with a new quality of information. Taking the areas of dictionary making and translating as an example, he demonstrates that accessing many details can lead to the creation of new data combinations.
