Abstract

In the book's introduction, the author elaborates upon his research interest in Eurypides’ Hecuba. This part of the book also contains some comments on pertinent remarks on poetic translation. The first chapter of the study proper looks into the first French translation of the work. The best part of this chapter is concerned with the analysis of the translation itself. Additional chapters investigate, among other issues, the various adaptations of the work and its translations in the classical age.
