The complexity of the profession of an interpreter is obvious in the legal milieu, where the lack of providing quality service could have a major impact on the rights and liberties of people. This article first draws an outline of legal interpreting services, followed by the issue that led to adopt a qualification process for legal interpreters called to work for the Ministery of Justice of Québec. Finally, the principal elements of this process are described.
