Translating contemporary fantasy involves the ability to identify the selected elements of fantasy and adapt them to the target culture. One can assume that sharp differences between source and target cultures will be reflected in translation: absence of literary or cinematographic legacy and lack of proper vocabulary due to cultural gaps lead to exclusive solutions which can hardly be seen in other cultures. The chapter illustrates this hypothesis, with using English-Hebrew translations. The author of the chapter regards fantasy as a cultural collection of texts and refers to this collection as multiple -media channels, due to its multiple adaptations of various media or literary forms and languages.
