Abstract
Heidrun Witte discusses translation from a functional perspective and posits that translators must be trained to be above naïve intercultural communication and that they must sometimes take upon them the job of enlightening clients. Vermeer’s Skopos Theory and Holz-Mäntärri’s Theory of Translational Action serve as the theoretical bases for her argument.
