Abstract
This paper offers a reflection on how the traditional course in the theory of translation can be re-structured to prepare students more effectively for work in the new multi-faceted workplace, where an ever wider variety of language, translation and interpreting skills is required. The course format and content have been worked out over the past four years with over 300 students working in translation combinations involving three languages, viz. French, English and Spanish.
