With the implementation of the Bologna Declaration and its three-tier higher education system, universities within the European Higher Education Area were given the opportunity to redesign their curricula in order to make them more market-efficient. The employability and international competiveness of conference interpreters have always been at the heart of the conference interpreting training courses at the Faculty of Translation Studies. Linguistic and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University in Germesheim, where the author of the present chapter is employed. The following article pertains to this training unit as designed over the years by the author, starting with the first postgraduate Master of Arts degree in conference interpreting, which was introduced in the 2008/09 winter term.
