Abstract
This chapter presents a case study from a community in which translation and interpreting are a major social and political imperative. In the signing world, an interventionist approach has been designed to enhance professional development and support language management. In that sense, a terminology bank (such as the Via term bank for Finnish Sign Language) constitutes a valuable tool for continuing professional development for interpreters, raising their metalinguistic awareness. This hypothesis is also confirmed by the results of an online survey among the term bank users.
