Abstract
The central focus of this article is the puppet theatre performance Barfuß durch Hiroshima, a dramatization of the autobiographical manga classics of the same name, written by Keiji Nakazawa. This manga tells the story of the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima and the subsequent struggle of the survivors from the perspective of the six-year old Gen Nakaoka. In 2004, the series was first published entirely in German. This four-volume edition was used by the theatre company “half past selber schuld” as starting point for a dramatization of the same name. The first part of this article is dedicated to the dramaturgy of the theatre production, followed by an analysis of the intersemiotic links in that same production.
