This article studies the highly complex translation of Chris Ware’s Jimmy Corrigan. It tries to describe what factors influence the decisions of translators, graphic designers and publishers when having to choose between intervening in the layout of the images or, alternatively, allowing potential misunderstandings to get in the way during the reception process.
