Abstract
The main aim of this research is to contribute to the validation of Toury’s theory about pseudotranslation by exploring and possibly expanding its field of applicability. Numerous publications can be found that deal with the history of Italian Disney comics, including detailed studies by amongst others De Salvia (2004), Gadducci, Gori & Lama (2011). They often refer to translating and the condition of anonymity, which was forced upon the authors. Others, like Kaindl (1999) and Celotti (1997), are specifically interested in the translation of the comic strips; Zanettin (2008) of Disney comics in particular. Yet, fictitious Italian Disney comics have not been approached in a DTS view on the basis of the hypothesis of a ‘cultural planning’ act, and this is exactly what the present research intends to do.
