This introductory chapter briefly presents the various parts of the proceedings volume Eyetracking and Applied Linguistics. It focusses on the major topics that emerged during the first International Conference on Eyetracking and Applied Linguistics (ICEAL): audiovisual translation, post-editing as well as comprehensibility and usability. Eyetracking methodology is employed to empirically investigate all of said topics.
