Abstract

The study reports on three translation students' processing while translating a text from English into their native Finnish. The aim is to identify different ways of interpreting the source text. The subjects are divided into two groups on the basis of their text comprehension patterns: (1) globalists who add textual and extralinguistic knowledge to linguistic details of the text, and (2) localists who rely on the linguistic details only.
