Abstract

This paper discusses a comparative study in which the novel of the French author François Bégaudeau Entre les murs, adapted for the cinema by Laurent Cantet, and their respective translations into German are evaluated to see how three different forms of translation — i.e. novel, subtitling and dubbing — have impacted on the shape of dialogue and the use of colloquialisms.
