Abstract

This book contains 9 articles which focus on the social role of the language mediator from many angles. Three different fields are defined, with three articles in each group. The first deals with the normative role of translations into minority languages. The second looks at language mediation as configurator of a standard language, and finally in the third group the focus is on the language mediation as configuration of social discourse. The book is interesting because it looks at the sociolinguistic aspects of translation, and particularly in the cases of the Catalan and Galician languages. The variety of the articles gives the book a comprehensive dimension and bibliography; and they bring issues from three different areas and two minority languages.
