This chapter focuses on the history of translator and interpreter training. Training has changed over time due to the influence of the theoretical approaches developed in Translation Studies. Hurtado Albir describes how the various approaches adopted have evolved from teacher-centred, product-oriented transmissionist and prescriptivist approaches to student-centred, process-oriented approaches.
