Translation studies has not yet found a systematic approach to the history of its subject. At the same time, however, interest in dealing with translation history is growing both within translation studies and within neighboring disciplines. In the wake of this interest, a wide variety of works on specific events, periods, and individuals are emerging. Translation history is faced with the task of structuring these events in order to activate their full epistemological potential. In this volume, perspectives and methods of a translation historiography in translation studies and possibilities of structuring and typologizing translation events are discussed.
