Abstract
With one quarter of the world's population speaking Chinese, the economic florescence and prosperity in Taiwan and Hong Kong; the reform and open-door policy in China and the increasing buying power of the Chinese community in the US, the business of translation into and from Chinese is booming. In this new growing market, the need to establish an industrial standard is increasing. Unfortunately not many translation agencies have Chinese translators in-house, thus, it becomes even more useful to have a Chinese Convention whenever there's a Chinese translation project. This presentation intends to provide a framework, a skeleton or basis for Chinese Convention and leaves it up to the audience and readers to substantiate, enrich and replenish it.
