The article highlights some relevant aspects of the working of the teaching innovation project Aula Virtual de Traducción (AVT) (c), which is now in its second stage. AVT, which was set up in 1998, focuses on improving translation teaching through Internet technology. It has the following aims: to trigger the students' research autonomy and to encourage the active participation of the students within the context of the classroom and in group projects. For the lecturer, it offers new tools which can assist with the teaching and which enable him to follow the students' learning progress.
