The University of North London's timely conference on Specialised Translation raised several important questions:
1. To what extent is the ex-technical specialised and indeed the non-literary translator in
general responsible for securing the factual and the moral truth of her translation, as opposed to the (old-fashioned?) view that she is only responsible for ensuring the accuracy of her translation vis-à-vis the original?
2. To what extent must the translator be an expert in his particular text topic?
