This book offers an analytic and descriptive study of the two major audiovisual modes: dubbing and subtitling within a TV context, though some short description is given of all other practices. It combines theory and practice. It addresses issues such as: audiovisual genres, audiovisual text, why dubbing or subtitling, how and who dubbs or subtitles, etc. A proposal for an analysis of audiovisual texts is also offered, taking into consideration the fields of Linguistics, Translation Studies and Film Studies.
