In this article it is argued that a three-stage review of subtitles is the form of quality control that contributes the most to achieving high standards of subtitling. The author discusses the review and preview of subtitles, comments on a practical experience of quality control in television subtitling in Wales, provides some examples of subtitle editing and looks into poor quality original scripts.
